Installing the Floor

The first thing you will need to do when installing your laminate floor is to get all the tools and equipment together that you will require to complete the job.  You will need to make sure that you have a hammer to tap the boards together and you are going to require safety goggles as well.

Once you are ready to begin, you will have to prepare the floor where you want to put the laminate boards.  It is very important that the surface where you will be laying the boards is clean, dry and free from small bits.  If you are laying straight onto concrete, then you must make sure that the floor is smooth and level.  It is important for you to lay your under floor at this stage as this will ensure the laminate is quieter when you walk on it and it will absorb any moisture underneath the boards.  The type of under floor layer that you choose is going to depend on what type of floor you are laying on.

It is always advisable to start at the biggest wall and work outwards from there.  Start in one corner and lay the boards end to end until you have finished one row.  When you move on to the next row, you will have to saw the first board in half so that the ends are not meeting in each row.  It is similar to the way bricks are laid.  A Quickstep floor is going to look fantastic in any home because they have some really superb quality boards available.
